Koalas are an endangered species due to wildfires and people cutting down trees. Most koalas eat leaves from eucalyptus trees. Because koalas are marsupials they carry their babies around in pouches. Even though koalas eat 2 pounds of eucalyptus a night. Eucalyptus makes them sleepy. Koalas spend most of their day resting. Koalas have cheek pouches for storing eucalyptus leaves. Once their pouch is full the koala will grind up the leaves with its flat cheek teeth.
